The Dutch Portrait Prize is being organized for the second time. Amy enters the contest with her grandfather’s portrait. A painted work full of details, with much emotional value for her and her family.

On to the final round

A total of more than 1,250 portraits (2D and 3D) were submitted. Participants digitally submitted a photo of their work. A jury then chose the 120 nominees from these. As it turned out, Amy Verhoeff was in the final 120! This meant she got to show her work on June 3 to a jury at Slot Zeist. An exciting day she looked forward to with great enthusiasm. On June 3, at the end of the day, Amy received the redeeming word; she had been chosen as one of the last 50 nominees. A great honor and appreciation for her work. The portrait of her grandfather is therefore on display at Slot Zeist from Sept. 1, 2019 to Nov. 17, 2019.

The finale

On Sept. 16, the 7-member jury will meet again to determine the final winners in the 3 categories: 2D, 3D and Young Talent. Winners will be announced on Nov. 3. The visiting public will also choose an audience winner who will also be announced on Nov. 3. Amy was presented with the Young Talent Award. Her painting Grandpa the judges found “good on all fronts with class for every detail. A hyperrealist tradition combined with contemporary madness and freedom’.

    <section class="elementor-section elementor-top-section
