Project: Hooked on drawing
Hooked on drawing
Hooked on Drawing is a collaboration between Amy Verhoeff and her sister Laya Verhoeff. The different ways of crafting are incorporated into one product. The result is a beautiful collection of pillows, reflecting the qualities of both sisters. On one side is a pattern Amy designed and then printed on fabric. The other side has a crochet/knit pattern made by Laya. The combination of contrasts in both texture and the colors and patterns make for an artistic whole, perfect for the sofa or a chair.
As part of sustainability, leftover fabric and wool were also made into necklace pendants. The pieces of fabric and small crocheted patches are stretched in a small wooden pendant. The result is a wearable work of art.
The sisters' artistic hobbies created the idea Hooked on Drawing, which literally translated means "addicted to drawing." The passion for knitting and crocheting was then literally hooked into the art. This collection nicely shows that combining two completely different disciplines can be a great success.
